Iran Will Never Be Allowed To Have A Nuclear Weapon – G7 Leaders
The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) nations have issued a strong joint statement reaffirming their opposition to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons and expressing unwavering support for Israel's right to self-defence, amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
In a communique addressing recent developments between Israel and Iran, the G7 emphasized their commitment to peace and regional stability, while condemning Iran as the main source of instability and terrorism in the region.
“We have been consistently clear that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon,” the G7 leaders declared.
They also reiterated their support for Israel’s security, stating that the country has the right to defend itself, especially in light of persistent threats from Iran and its regional proxies.
At the same time, the leaders stressed the need to protect civilians and called for a broader de-escalation of hostilities across the Middle East, particularly urging progress toward a ceasefire in Gaza.
“We urge that the resolution of the Iranian crisis leads to a broader de-escalation, including a ceasefire in Gaza,” the statement read.
The G7 also acknowledged the global economic implications of instability in the region, especially in relation to energy markets, and pledged to coordinate with international partners to safeguard market stability.
“We will remain vigilant to the implications for international energy markets and stand ready to coordinate… to ensure stability,” they concluded.
